Recently, the “Innovation Team of Academicians of Biomass Chemistry and Materials” of the College of Bioresources Chemical and Materials Engineering has made new progress in the research of new carbon-based functional materials based on natural wood and lignocellulose. The team has published the intelligent papers titled “Smart Porous Wood Supported Flower-like NiS / Ni Conjuction with Vitrimer Co-effect as Multifunctional Material with Reshaping, Shape-memory and Self-healing for High-Performance Supercapacitors, Catalysts and Sensors” and“Smart Paper @ Polyaniline Nanofibers Incorporated Vitrimer Bifunctional Device with Reshaping, Shape-Memory and Self-Healing Properties Applied in High-Performance Supercapacitors and Sensors” in the ” Journal of Materials Chemistry A” (IF = 10.733) and “Chemical Engineering Journal” (IF = 8.355) . SUST is the first author unit and the only corresponding unit of the papers. Associate Professor XIONG Chuanyin, the youth teacher of the College of Bioresources Chemical and Materials Engineering, is the first author and the corresponding author. The 2018 graduate students LI Bingbing and LI Mengrui are the second authors of the two papers separately.
These two papers has firstly reported the combination of wood and paper-based materials like glass polymers (vitrimers), using Vitrimers to combine the dual characteristics of traditional thermoplastic and thermosetting polymers, giving wood and paper-based composite materials the characteristics of high strength, plasticity, self-repair and shape memory, and the experiments have proved that the introduction of Vitrimers can effectively improve the cycle life of wood and paper-based energy storage materials. This work has important enlightenment and reference value for the development and application of biomass-based multifunctional materials, and shows the new achievements of our school in the field of materials and chemical research.
